+u street renovation

Aggregate designed the complete renovation to this four-story brownstone in the U Street historic district. They established a modern, clean floor plan while key details, including window mouldings and fireplace mantles, echo their historical context.

Large, central skylights pour natural light through the open riser staircase, glass landing inserts and strategic interior windows. New roof and rear decks create outdoor living space and a green wall and custom planers soften the urban edges and provide privacy. Lowering the basement floor slab allowed for a 2 bed/2 bath rental unit to be included.
